Kathryn Arleah Yoder, 87, Minot died on Saturday, July 26, 2014 in her home.

Kathryn was born on August 17, 1926 in Brutus, Michigan to Amos and Elsie (Brubacher) Gregory. She was raised on the family farm in MI and was the oldest of eight children. She finished her high school education in Hesston, KS, and graduated from Hesston College Academy in 1948.

As a young adult, Kathryn taught at rural schools near Woodland, MI from 1950 until 1952 and at Boyne City, MI. During this time she took correspondence courses through Goshen College in Goshen, IN, and in 1953 she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education.

Kathryn married John Yoder on June 12, 1955 in Petoskey, MI. They made their home on a farm south of Surrey, where she helped with the family farm and they raised their three children: Gregory, Pamela, and Carol. Kathryn still managed to keep her credentials as a teacher by substituting in the Minot and Surrey School Districts. They retired from farming in 1989 and moved to Minot. John died on November 2, 2005.

Kathryn was former member of Fairview Mennonite Church in Surrey, where she taught Sunday school and Bible school for many years and was a member of the Women's Missionary Service Auxiliary. Later she became a member of Prairie Peace Fellowship Church where she served on the church council. Currently, she was attending the Bible Fellowship Church in Minot. Also, she served as a volunteer for the Minot Adult Literacy Program and at ManorCare Health Services. Kathryn enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening and quilting in her spare time.

Kathryn's loving family includes children; Pamela (Marvin) Metzler, Gilman, WI and Carol (Bob) Timm, Minot, daughter-in-law: Pam (Cal) Arndt of Mandan; sisters; Jean (Kenneth) Michael, Elkhart, IN, Ila (Bill) Gregory of Pellston MI, Ruth (Fred) Yoder of Harbor Springs MI and Bernice (Alvin) Dick, Mountain Lake, MN; brothers: LeRoy (Ruth) Gregory of Brutus MI and Gerald (Betty) Gregory, Beaver Falls, PA; seven grandchildren: Mandy (Todd) Fenner, John Yoder, Clover (Bob) Mabie, Clinton Metzler, Kathryn (Grant) Lehman, Tina Timm and Timmothy Timm; great grandchildren: Mikenna, Amilia and Martin Fenner; Gavyn Yoder, Harley, Ambernette, Ezekiel Mabie and Penelope Lehman and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, brother Wilmer, and son Gregory.

Celebration of the Life of Kathryn Yoder : Wednesday, July 30, 2014 - 2:30 p.m. in the Bible Fellowship Church - Minot.
Interment : Fairview Cemetery - rural Surrey.
Visitation : Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Mennonite Disaster Services or the Mennonite Central Committee.
