Kathleen 'Kathy' Sue Aiken , 62, Burlington, formerly of Minot, died Sunday, January 10, 2016 in a Minot hospital.

Kathy was born January 24, 1953 in Fargo, ND to Peter and Phyllis (Roll) Metz. In her youth, they moved various places until settling in Minot, where she attended Minot High School, graduating with the class of 1971. She attended Minot State University.

Kathy was united in marriage to Jim Aiken on April 28, 1972 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minot, where they made their home. This union was blessed with two daughters, Allison and Sarah. Kathy was a devoted wife and loving mother.

Kathy's meticulous personality complimented her passion for gourmet cuisine, served often to family and friends. She loved spending precious time with her family, especially her grandchildren, where she was in attendance at most of their activities.

Jim died unexpectedly August 24, 2005. She became a member of the Burlington community in 2011.

Kathy was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Burlington and a past member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot. In addition to her passion of cooking she enjoyed traveling, crafting and spending time with friends. She will be missed by all who shared in her life.

Kathy's loving family includes her daughters, Allison (Karter) Lesmann, Burlington and Sarah (J. Allan) Slotter, Ellington, CT; grandchildren, Jameson, Austin and Gage Lesmann and Alex, David and Thomas Slotter; mother, Phyllis Metz, Minot; sisters, Mary (Jeff) Schlautman, Fremont, NE and Carol Metz, Colorado Springs, CO; brothers, Paul (Ellen) Metz, Stanwood, MI and Joe (Shari) Metz, Minot and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father and husband, Jim.

Funeral Service : Friday, January 15, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in Peace Lutheran Church, Burlington.
Visitation: Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
