Juliette Lockwood, 75, New Town, died on Thursday, January 25, 2007 in a Minot hospital.

Juliette Lockwood , was born June 15, 1931 to the late Pete Star and Ester Jones. She attended school in Elbowoods where she had met her husband Leroy Lockwood Sr. They were married in 1950 and had 11 children. Just around the year of 1965 they had relocated to Long Beach California to find better jobs. They lived in Long Beach for about 2 to 3 years. After her husbands deaths in 1968 she moved Hawaiian Gardens, California for the next 17 years and raised her children. During that time she attended Harbor General Teaching Hospital and Cerritos College for about 4 years to become a nursing assistant. Whenever one of her children would get hurt or sick she would always say remember I was almost a doctor.

She came home to New Town in 1982 when her father became ill. That's when she met her life companion, Samuel Newman. They had both went back to California and lived there for about ten years and had to come back when Sam got sick. She lost her companion in 1993 and she continued to raise her children and grandchildren on her own. She played the role of being the a grandmother and wanting to give them everything yet remain tough and tell them no when there wasn't enough money.

Juliette Lockwood was a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to everyone. She was always supportive of anyone and taught them all how to be strong, independent and not have to rely on anyone but themselves. She encouraged education and always had words of wisdom that her grandchildren will carry with them forever.

She is survived by: 2 sons - Clayton Sr. and LeRoy Sr.; 7 Daughters Loris, Lana, Deborah, Lisa, Leslie, Donna and Lois, 32 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by: Her parents-Pete Star Sr. & Ester Jones; brothers-Pete Star, Mason Star; sister-Rosalie White Body; and two sons-Mason, and Bruce; her husband-Leroy Lockwood Sr.; and her companion-Samuel Newman.
