Obituary

Julie Lynn Chicane (Walters), 56, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 22, 2024, with her husband by her side in Minot, N.D. She was born in Grangeville, on Nov. 2, 1967, to Paul and Stella Walters.

Julie was the oldest of three siblings; her younger brother, Paul Jr., with whom she shared a birthday, and her youngest sister, Madora, with whom she shared the joys of singing.

Julie was blessed with daughters that she loved very much, Lacy, Bridget and Emily. She married her friend and love of her life, Mike Chicane, on June 16, 2000. She then added another daughter to her life, Shera. Julie and Mike moved to Williston, N.D., in August 2008, to work in the oil fields. Their forever home will always be in Idaho.

Julie was a woman of many talents. She could sing, cook and drive anything. She started working at an early age of 13. Although it was not legal, her mother lied about Julie's age so she could start working as a waitress. She went on to do many different kinds of work; from working at a mill, to going to Lewis-Clark State College to become a CNA. She was an apprentice electrician, where she wired many campers, worked for the City of Lewiston and learned how to drive machinery. Being married to Mike she learned to drive all kinds of trucks, ranging from long haul truck driving to loading her own gravel truck with a pup and front end loader attached.

Julie is survived by her husband, Mike Chicane, of North Dakota; daughters: Lacy Brannan of Lewiston, Bridget (Dusty) Arnzen of Grangeville, Emily (Craig) Trautman of New Plymouth, Idaho, and Shera (Curtis) Johnson of South Carolina; her brother Paul Jr. (Billie) Walters of Lewiston; sister Madora (Todd) Harrelson of Colfax; her grandchildren: Justin Brannan, Holly Brannan, Rylie Arnzen, Remi Arnzen and Destiny Johnson.

Julie is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Stella Walters, and aunt Rosie Bakker.

A celebration of her life will be planned at a later date.
