Obituary

Judy Navarro, 74, Balfour, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017 in a Minot hospital.

Judy Lee Navarro was born January 24, 1943 to Lloyd Pierce and Pauline Dowdle in Canada. She was later adopted by Dewey Bartholomew in Logan, Utah.

She grew up in Artesia, CA, with her sister Ann Louise (John) Buentello, and three brothers John Pierce, Jay Allen (Mami) Bartholomew and Scott Bartholomew. She completed a total of 13 years of education.

She would marry Roy Louis Speck and have four children, Dana (Scott Rostad) Michael, Kara (Mario Zagone) Lee, Daniel (Valaurie) Adam and Jerold Douglas.

In January of 1995, she married Mario Israel Burgos Navarro. There were no children from this marriage.

She was always well known for her helping and caring attitude towards everyone in the neighborhood. Our house always became the "in house" for all the kids. There was always an open-door policy no matter who you were.

We as a family were known to play football in the middle of the street, and guess who would be right out there with us? You guessed it, our mom. Someone even called the police on us because we were playing in the street without an adult, boy were they ever surprised.

She loved animals, and we can tell you we had them all. Horses, donkeys, cows, pigs, chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits, sheep and goats, emus not to mention the inside critters. There was rarely a time you didn't find a dog around. She loved all breeds, well almost all, Pekinese was not her favorite. There were also many cats, in and out.

She always made sure we went somewhere, even if it was just around the corner to have fun and get away. There were trips to the beach, trips to Idyllwild, one of our favorite spots, the fresh made apple cider was awesome. There was even a great park, Hillcrest park, with a scary old rock house she would take us to. We played in the stream searching for pollywogs and getting soaked and slid down the hills on card board.

She was an avid reader, loved quilting, spending time with her family and especially the grand babies.

She was blessed with 11 Grandchildren, Amber (Bill) Abbott, Krystofer (Starr) Yost, Joseph (Kristi), Jennifer (Danny), Phillip (Jaymi) Zagone, Stacy (Jason Epperson), Daniel (Valaurie), Megan, Jared, Jessica Speck Martinez, Arron Speck, and those who consider her to be their grandma, Samantha, Allia, Armando, Ashley (Michael) McKenzie, and Michael Silva.

She was further blessed with 17 Great Grandchildren, Carolann (Kyle) Otto, Jacob Burger, Brianna and Kaitlynne Abbott, Alexandria, Valerie and Julia Jimenez, Phillip, Dominic, Damien, Jaxon, the twins: Lyla and Tristin Zagone, Damien Silva. Daniel G., Aubrie and Sophia Speck

And last, but, by no means least, she was blessed with her first Great Great Grandchild, Kyle R. Otto Jr.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and two babies.
