Obituary

Judy R. Huus, 81, Minot, died Sunday, January 6, 2020 in a Minot nursing home.

Judy was born August 17, 1938 in Minot, ND to Adolph and Hazel (Klimpel) Schmidt. She attended school in the Sawyer area and graduated from Sawyer High School in 1956. Judy continued her education at Minot State Teacher's College, where she earned a rural teaching certificate.

Judy spent the first three years of her teaching career in country schools in and around Ward County and Max, ND.

Judy married Ordean Huus August 7, 1959 in Minot. They made their home in Minot and were blessed with the birth of three sons. Judy joined the Minot Public School system in 1977 as a Librarian for Bel Air School. She retired from her position in 1991.

Ordean and Judy moved to Wall Lake near Fergus Falls, MN in 1991 after retirement. At the lake, many wonderful memories were made. As grandpa and grandma, they made a special point of arranging for the grandkids and friends to stay with them for a couple weeks every summer. Many memories were made through water skiing, motorcycling, swimming, fishing, shopping, amusement parks, and late night card games. During that same period they cared for Judy's mother Hazel until her passing in 2001. They returned to Minot in 2005.

Judy was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Minot. She enjoyed reading, traveling and blessed many with her talents in the kitchen cooking and baking. Judy was devoted to her family and treasured the summers spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to share in her life.

Judy is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Ordean, Minot; sons Curtis (Bev) Huus, Rapid City, SD / Watford City, ND, Terry (Cindy) Huus, Watertown, SD, and Wade (Becky) Huus, Minot, ND; grandchildren Natasha (Kara & Boone) Brewer, Ft. Collins, CO, Brandon Huus, Minneapolis, MN, Trisha Huus, Tigard, OR, Carlee (Derrick) Davis, Watertown, SD, Abigail, Sophia, Seth, Maxwell and Amelia Huus, all of Minot; great-grandchildren Allyssa, Aiden, and Eva Brewer along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, sister Bonnie Finkbeiner, brothers Ardell and Rodnie Schmidt, sisters-in-law Billie Schmidt and LaVerne Johnson, and brother-in-law Norman Finkbeiner.
