IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Judith
Lindlauf
June 4, 1941 – March 2, 2019
Judith L. Lindlauf, 77, formerly of Voltaire and Minot, ND died Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the Souris Valley Care Center in Velva.
Judith was born June 4, 1941, in Artesia, CA to Paul W. and Virginia L. (Morris) Gothard. She attended school in southern California, where she played basketball and was a cheerleader. Judith loved the ocean and found work for a time as a lifeguard and spent time employed at Knots Berry Farm.
Judith moved to Oklahoma in 1959 with her mother and stepfather. At the age of 20, she enlisted into the US Army and completed basic training at Ft. McClellan, Alabama. She was assigned to the typing pool in the Pentagon, ending up working for the head of the Colonel's Division. She was honorably discharged on April 3, 1963.
In January 1963, she met a tall, dark and handsome Sergeant named Carl Lindlauf. After a brief courtship, they were joined in marriage on March 16, 1963, at Christ Lutheran Church in Washington, DC. They moved to the home and farmyard of Carl's grandfather located near Ruso, ND in June of 1963. In August of 1967 they moved to the Lindlauf homestead north of Kongsberg. Together, Judith and Carl created a family and farmed for the next 41 growing seasons until retiring in 2004. Judy successfully battled cancer in 1986 and again in 1994. She had a strong will and refused to give into the disease.
She enjoyed time in her garden, and also loved books, movies, and musicals. She truly enjoyed the water, and often took her children swimming in Cottonwood Lake. Judith's cooking and baking abilities were second to no one. Carl had to join Weight Watchers many times over the years!
They moved to Minot in 2004. They joined Zion Lutheran Church in 2015. Judith became a resident of the Souris Valley Care Center on April 13, 2018.
Judy's legacy was her family. She taught them to love one another unconditionally and made sure her children always reached for their dreams. She will be missed by all who were blessed to know her as a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 56 years, Carl Lindlauf, Minot; five children, James (Susan) Lindlauf, Grand Forks, ND, Deborah Reimers, Jamestown, ND, Rebecca (Timothy) Sayre, Grand Forks, ND, Angela (Charles) Roehm, Minot, ND and Margaret (Jeffrey) Igielski, Pullman, WA; fifteen grandchildren, Natasha ( Eric) Thorlaksen, Kristoffer Larson, Samuel (Melissa) Olson, Anastassia Larson, James Reimers, Jacob Reimers, Carl Lindlauf, Isaac Reimers, August Igielski, Andrew Reimers, Olivia Igielski, Jocelyn Sayre, Josiah Reimers, Daniel Sayre and Gabriel Igielski; four great-grandchildren, Kabrie Larson, Abigail, Henry, and Benjamin Thorlaksen, along with a number of nieces and nephews.
