Joyce Marilyn Vold, 88, Minot, formerly of Berthold, passed peacefully on Saturday, June 16, 2018 in a Minot Hospital.

Joyce was born on June 26, 1929 at Kenmare, North Dakota, the daughter of Raymond and Pearl (Modin) Cain. She lived with her family in Newburg, North Dakota, where she was raised and educated until they moved to Minot for a short time. They lived in Berthold, where she continued her education.

Joyce was united in marriage to Howard Vold on November 14, 1945 in Glasgow, MT. They lived in Berthold until 1955, when they moved to Minot. She was employed by the Minot Public Schools from 1966 until 1991 as a cook at Jim Hill Junior High School. She retired in 1991. She and her husband had operated Speedway Rentals near Burlington from 1977 until 2004. They enjoyed spending time at their summer home at Strawberry Lake during the summer months with family. Joyce and Howard moved into Brentmoor Assisted Living Center (now Brookdale) in June of 2004. Howard passed on March 15, 2005.

Joyce was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, Minot. She was also a member of the Minot Eagles Aerie and Women of Moose Lodge. Joyce loved going to casinos and playing bingo. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning.

Her loving family includes: her children, Pat (Craig) Dennis, Dickinson, ND, Pamela Bisson, Minot, ND, Toni (Dale) Dobias, St Hilaire, MN & Tim (Lois) Vold, Chanhassen, MN; five grandchildren, Lori (Marvel) Dennis, Brandon (Jessica) Vold, Chelsey Vold, Kyle (Hannah) Dobias & Alicia Dobias; five great grandchildren, Brady Morel, Noah Morel, Harper Dobias, Blakely Vold & Riley Vold; sister in law, Marion Rickabus of Detroit, MI; several nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband of nearly 60 years, Howard; granddaughter, Amy Dennis; great granddaughter, Quinn Dobias; sister, Mary Herman; nephew, Scott Olson and a niece, Susan Olson.

Funeral service: Friday, June 22, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Thursday from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Youth For Christ or Domestic Violence Center.
