Joyce Moran, 82, Minot, died Monday, March 10, 2014 in a Minot nursing home.

Joyce was born March 17, 1931, in Kenmare, ND to Melvin and Ruth (Shaver) Johnson. She grew up in Kenmare and graduated with the class of 1949 from Kenmare High School. Joyce finished her education at Minot Teacher's College in 1950.

Joyce moved to Portland, OR and started her career with U.S. West Telephone Company in 1950. She was united in holy marriage to James Moran on June 15, 1965 in Vancouver, WA. They made their home in Portland for many years until moving to Minot in 1998. Joyce retired from her position in 1992, following 42 years of faithful service.

Joyce worked part-time at Trinity Homes Gift Shoppe for a number of years. She attended Vincent United Methodist Church of Minot. Joyce enjoyed reading and could never pass up a good garage sale. She also loved spending time with her nieces and nephews & great nieces & nephews. James died on July 21, 2010.

Her family includes, sister, Zella (Don) Ackerson, Sherwood, ND; brother, Wayne (Crystal) Johnson, Bottineau, ND; sister-in-law, Carolyn Johnson, Minot, ND and brother-in-law, Richard Johnson, Tolley, ND.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James, sister, Myrna Johnson and brother, Wesley Johnson.

You will be missed "Aunt Joyce," "Joycee," and "Grandma Joyce."

At Joyce's request, no formal services will be held.
A time to sign a memorial register book will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from noon until 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Sherwood Cemetery or organization of the donor's choice.
