Joyce Herdt , 89, Minot, died Sunday, June 25, 2023, in a Minot hospital.
Joyce was born May 7, 1934 to Sid and Metta (Zorn) Galusha on the family farm in South Prairie where she was raised. She was educated in a one-room country school until attending Minot High School. While in high school she worked at various places in Minot.
Joyce married Norman Herdt on October 24, 1954, at Zion Lutheran Church in Minot. Soon after their marriage, they moved to the family farm. They returned to Minot in 1964 where she was employed at Mitchell Hardware. In 1969 the couple moved to Jamestown for one year before returning to Minot. Joyce worked at North Hill Bottle Shop and then Trinity Nursing Home as a CNA for 25 years. She retired in 2003, and then worked part-time at the Moose Lodge until 2015.
Joyce was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher. She was a lifetime member of the VFW and Moose Lodge. Joyce was most recently an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Minot. She especially appreciated traveling with her dear friend, Tereasa Schock; the two of them enjoyed the beauty of almost all the states in the USA. Joyce treasured her time having lunch and making memories with many of her family and close friends. Her hobbies included traveling via bus tours, reading, and going for walks.
Joyce is survived by her son Keith Herdt of Minot; daughters Karen (Warren) Dockter of Minot and CeeCee (Doug) Thompson of Lake Metigoshe; grandchildren Randi Monley of Minot, Maison Herdt of Velva, Brooks (Jen) Pederson of Fargo, Lindee Sahli of Denver, CO and Alish (Zach) Charley of Queen Creek, AZ; great grandchildren Holden and Felix Monley, Alijah Herdt, Gabe and Reagan Pederson and Jacob, Mirah and Jonas Charley; and several nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband Norman; baby twin sister; brothers Wayne and Herbert Galusha and sister Fern Vannett.
Funeral Service:
1:00 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2023 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Minot.
Visitation:
Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot

are preferred to Our Savior Lutheran Church, Minot or Souris Valley Assisted Living, Velva.
