Joseph Hill Sr., 60, Minot and formerly of Texas, died Wednesday, August 26, 2020 in his home of natural causes.

Joseph was born August 4, 1960 in Chicago, IL to John Sr. and Eileen (Farrell) Hill.  He spent the years of his youth in Chicago.  He was a graduate of Evergreen Park High School, class of 1978.

Joseph enlisted into the US Army on November 20, 1979.  He spent the next twenty years of his professional life at various military installations throughout the US, Germany and Korea.  He served honorably in Operation Desert Shield/Storm and retired on November 30, 1999 from Ft. Hood, TX.

Joseph was blessed with four children during his lifetime.  He lived a majority of the time in Texas working on the civilian side of the private industry, but also spent time living and working in Arizona and Illinois before moving to Minot, ND in October 2017 to be near his daughter and grandkids, who were stationed at the Minot Air Force Base.  Joseph worked at the Grand Hotel in Minot, serving in a number of capacities during his tenure.

Joseph was a sports enthusiast, especially Chicago teams, taking in many baseball games during his life. He enjoyed puzzles and sharing his love for cooking, especially homemade pizza. However, every activity took a backseat to his job as a grandfather.  He loved his family dearly and was proud of each and every one of them.  He especially loved being a "Pop Pop." He will be missed, but remembered by those who were blessed to share in his life.

Joseph's loving family includes his children Amber (Kyle) McIntyre, Kailua, HI, Amanda (Marcus) Cannon, North Pole, AK and Jack Hill, Austin, TX; grandchildren Marcus Cannon Jr., Andre Cannon and Kyle McIntyre Jr.; siblings John Hill, Detroit, MI, Michael (Mary) Hill, Green Valley, AZ, Virginia Hill, Tucson, AZ, Robert Hill, Chicago, IL, Nancy Miller, Crown Point, IN and Eileen Hill, Anderson, IN along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and son Joseph Hill Jr.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2020 at St. Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church in Harker Heights, Texas.
Inurnment:  1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2020 at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
