Joseph 'Joe' H. French, Jr., 79, Minot, died Tuesday, January 3, 2022, in a Minot hospital.

Joseph was born August 10, 1943, near Grafton, ND to Henry J. and Ernestine (Lessard) French. He spent the years of his youth in Drayton, ND until moving to Grafton when he entered the Grafton State School, now known as the Life Skills and Transition Center.

Joe moved to Minot and was transitioned into the care of the Minot Vocational Workshop on May 3, 1973 now known as Kalix.

Joe enjoyed days filled with scrambled eggs, never ending episodes of Law and Order and professional wrestling on tv, a cup of coffee,  and dining at Schatz Truckstop. He valued deeply his home care staff, especially longtime support and friend Melissa Zietz. Joe will be remembered for his special shuffle and will be deeply missed by his home care family who were blessed to share in his life.

Joe is survived by his sisters Rose Kostecki, Devils Lake, ND, Germaine (Aime) Pokrzywinski, Manvel, ND, Estelle (Dan) Vanyo, Bloomington, MN, Jane Osowski, Grand Forks, ND, and Geri (Bill) DiRocco of Boise, ID along with many nieces and nephews and all the members and staff of his Kalix family in Minot

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Blanche Snyder, Georgette Lizakowski, Clarabelle French, Marcel French, Lorraine McCoy, Annabelle French, Marcella Holweg, Wilmer French, Larry French and Doris Langowski.

Interment: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Oakwood, ND
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the service at the funeral.
