Jonathan Jay Friesen, 53, rural Minot died on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 in a Minot hospital.
Jonathan Jay Friesen was born on July 25, 1960 in Minot to Leonard and Betty (Welsh) Friesen. He was reared in his early years on the family farm near Ryder. The family moved to the Logan area where he attended Bell School, Sawyer School and Minot High School.
At the young age of eighteen, he set out for California. He worked various jobs in the Los Angeles, San Diego and Beach communities before settling in the Palm Desert, where he worked as a tour guide, chauffer and motorcade driver. He owned and operated his own pool-side resort service and later a window-washing service.
Jon had a love of downhill snow-skiing, hiking and camping in Yosemite National Park. He liked to travel and had an appreciation of good music.
He returned to the Minot area in 2008, where he was employed as a driver. He loved good conversation, watching football and collecting train memorabilia.
Jon is survived by his mother of Minot; siblings: Krystal (Mark) Krebsbach and Garnet Friesen all of Minot, Lane (Tiffany) Friesen of Pablo MT, Val (Cristee) Friesen of Ryder and Dixie Friesen of Riverdale and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jon was preceded in death by his grandparents and father.
Memorial Open House: Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Fireside Bistro of Edgewood Vista at the corner of Hiawatha Street and 16th Avenue S.E.
