Obituary

John A. Rahn, 76, Minot and formerly of Burlington, Foxholm and Deering, died Thursday, May 28, 2009, in a Minot nursing home.

John was born September 15, 1932, in Stanley, North Dakota to Albert and Freda (Markl) Rahn. He received his diploma in May 1948.

John was once married to Marion Stenvold in 1954. They made their home in Minot. On June 11, 1955, John was united in marriage to Bev Signalness. They lived in Minot. John married Jan Thomson in 1968. They lived in Burlington and Foxholm. He moved to Deering in the late 1990's and resided there until moving to Trinity Homes in 2007.

John excelled in many professions during his lifetime. He worked as a police officer, farmer, and welder for the Soo Line Railroad. He was best known for his time spent as a crane operator for Burlington Truck Crane Rental Company and as a race car driver and builder, with many years spent at the NoDak Speedway.

John was a member of the Teamsters, NRA and several other local clubs and organizations in the Minot area. He enjoyed dancing, woodworking and the outdoors. He will be deeply missed by all who shared in his life.

Surviving family includes: Children: Steven (Deb) Rahn, Mandan, ND, Deb Rahn, Hemet, CA, Tim A. Rahn, Jamestown, ND, Todd (Laura) Thomson, Minot, ND, Kevin Thomson, Spokane, WA, Mike (Lisa) Thomson, Minot, ND, and Barbara Rahn, Bismarck, ND; 31 Grandchildren; 14 Great-Grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John was preceded in death by his parents, infant granddaughter, Karina Thomson, grandson, Tim Rahn, Jr., sisters, Rosie Theis and Ida Bakken and brother, Herbert Rahn.

Funeral: Friday, June 5, 2009, 1:00 p.m. at the Spiritual Life Christian Fellowship Church, located at 400 Main St. North, Minot.
Visitation:
Thursday, June 4, 2009, from noon until 5:00 p.m. at the church
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND
Memorials:
Preferred to the Spiritual Life Christian Fellowship Church, Minot.
