Obituary

John "Jack" Phillip Munch, 94, Kenmare, died Thursday, September 15, 2016 in a Minot Hospital.

Jack was born July 6, 1922 at Kenmare, North Dakota the son of Phillip and Loretta (Maus) Munch. He was raised and educated at Kenmare, graduating from Kenmare High School in 1941. He entered into active duty service during World War II with the 82nd Army Air Corps Quartermaster unit in September 5, 1943. He was honorably discharged December 31, 1945.

Jack returned to Kenmare and was united in marriage to Eunice Teske on August 6, 1949 in Kenmare. They made their home in Kenmare. John had farmed the original Munch homestead since 1946. They moved to the farm 4 miles south of Kenmare and received a soil conservation award in 1982. John retired from farming in 1987. They moved to Minot in 2007 and resided at The View. Eunice died June 2, 2013.

Jack was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Kenmare, until they moved to Minot. He and Eunice then attended Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Minot. John was a member of the American Legion and VFW Club, both of Kenmare; He was also a member of the Kenmare Senior Citizens, Last Man's Club and had volunteered with the Kenmare Rural Fire Department, where he had served on the board of directors. He had driven for the Kenmare Ambulance for a number of years. He enjoyed traveling with Eunice to various places across the United States, along with gardening and fishing.

Jack's loving family includes, children, Lea (Greg) Ankenbauer, Kenmare, Lyndon (Gloria) Munch, Bowie, TX, Cary (Sandy) Munch, Minot and Denise (Lorne) Clark, Woodward, OK; grandchildren, Kati (Jon) Zainhofsky, Kasey (Chad) Haugen, Kelly (Brian) Spear, Karyn (John) Halcrow, Travis (Lauren) Munch, Chris (Lisa) Munch, Charity Munch and Nicolas Munch, Matt Munch, Logan Clark, & Lauren Clark; great Grandchildren, Morgan, Jayli and Lukas Haugen; Landan, Lincoln, Lleyton & Leland Spear; Annie, Ella, Hazel & Louis Munch; former daughter in law, Valerie Munch, Broken Arrow, OK; siblings: Jim (Pat) Munch, Great Falls, MT, LuElla Ray, Great Falls, MT and Jerry (Maureen) Munch, Kenmare.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 64 years, Eunice; son, Clayton, infant great grandson, Liam Haugen; brothers, Joe and Phillip Jr., sisters LaVera and LaVon and sister in law, Marie Munch.

Mass of Christian Burial : Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in St Agnes Catholic Church, Kenmare.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary: Friday, September 23, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Church.
Interment: St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery, Kenmare.
Visitation: Friday from 4:00 6:00 p.m. in St Agnes Catholic Church.
Memorials are preferred to St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery, Kenmare.
