John Lozensky, 88, South Prairie died on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 in the Hagen Adult Foster Care Home in Ryder, ND.
John was born on December 2, 1921 on the family farm in Gasman Township of Ward County south of Minot to Arthur and Mary (Kabanuk) Lozensky. He was reared on the family farm, educated at Gasman Township rural schools and attended high school in Max and Minot. As a young adult he assisted on the family farm.
John married Mavis Lange on June 24, 1945 in Minot. They made their home on a Gasman Township farm they had purchased shortly before they were married. They raised small grains and livestock and he assisted his wife with the operation of Mavis' Ceramics Shop from 1972 until she sold the business to her daughter-in-law. Mavis died on May 5, 1986. John retired from farming in 1986. John married Adeline Bakke Parizek on August 5, 1989. They made their home in Minot. Adeline died in 2006. Following her death he remained in his home in Minot until moving back to the farm and then to Trinity Homes and Hagen's Adult Foster Care Home.
John was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church Minot and the Farmer's Union and was a 4-H leader. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, reading, card and board games.
John is survived by his sons: Gary (Shirley) of Bismarck, Larry of Scottsdale, Tim (Bev) and Craig (Paulette) both of South Prairie; eight grandchildren: Carrie (Scott) Power, Amy (Brian) Wredberg, Brandon (Lindy Baron) Lozensky, Jeris, Desirea, Tyson Lozensky, Kelly (Deanna) Lozensky Ashley (Shawn) Bailey; six great grandchildren; stepchildren: David Parizek, Debbie Kuhn, Mark Parizek and Nancy Klein; several step grandchildren; brothers: Pete (Elsie) Lozensky of Minot and Max Lozensky of Velva and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
John was preceded in death by his parents, wives, son: Mark, daughter: Connie, granddaughter: Tiffany, two infant sisters and brothers: Art and Steve.
Funeral Service: Monday, September 20, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Minot.
Graveside Service: Monday at 12:15 p.m. at Gasman Township Cemetery rural Max.
Visitation: Sunday from noon until 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Gasman Township Cemetery perpetual care fund.
