John Hunt, 66, Minot, died Thursday, November 2, 2017 in a Minot nursing home.
John was born June 22, 1951, in Jackson, Michigan to Mark L. and Patricia M. (Trites) Hunt. Alaska was the setting of his childhood, which created his love for the outdoors. He was active in Boy Scouts during his youth. John was a graduate of East Anchorage High School in 1969. He completed his secondary education in mechanics at the UAA Tech & Community College.
John moved to Minot with his family in 1971. He joined the sales staff at Home of Economy and truly enjoyed his selling time there. He spent a majority of his working life assisting customers with their needs and also finding the time to visit and share stories. Dakota Pawn Brokers provided a job to John for six years until his health forced his retirement.
John loved everything about the outdoors. Hunting and fishing were his main interests during his entire life. He hunted with bow and gun and was known to be quite a shot when target shooting. He was quite a bowler as well, but probably known most for his ability to visit with anyone which often led to a great story. John will be missed by all who shared in his life.
John is survived by his mother, Patricia Hunt, Minot; brother, Bill (Jeanne) Hunt, Bismarck; sister, Jeanne (David) Miller, Bossier, LA and nieces and nephews, Ryan Hunt, Sara Miller, Shay (Brittany) Hunt, Marisha Hunt and Joselyn Hunt.
John was preceded in death by his father, Mark Hunt and brother, Brett Hunt.
