Obituary

John W. Horn, 65, Minot, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, in a Minot hospital.

John was born February 3, 1943, in Robeline, LA, to Richard and Pearlie (Sims) Horn. He was raised and educated in Louisiana, where he graduated from Forest High School in 1961. He entered the United States Air Force on May 31, 1961.

John was united in marriage to Mary Fuehrer on January 28, 1963, at North Hill Baptist Church in Minot. They made their home in Minot while John served his first term in the military, serving in Vietnam, until his honorable discharge on February 28, 1966.

After a short period of time, John reentered the US Air Force. He served at Barksdale AFB in Louisiana for a time, until returning to Minot in 1980. He retired after 21 years of honorable service to his country on October 31, 1987.

John gained employment with the Civil Service in the Transportation Supply Branch, a similar position he held with the US Air Force. John continued his employment for over 18 years until his death.

He enjoyed the camping and participating on a weekly pool league. John also took great pride in the appearance of their home and yard.

John will be deeply missed by all who shared in his life.

Surviving family includes: Loving wife of 45 years, Mary; Sons: Richard (Ginny) Horn - Ramstein AFB, Germany and Scott (Codi) Horn - Dickinson, ND; Grandchildren: Michael, Cameron, Travis, Ashley, Clay, Jessyca, Makenzie, Zachery, and Pier; Sister: Inez Owens - Gladewater, TX; and Brothers: L.C. (Dianne) Horn - Simsboro, LA and Luther E. Horn - Rayville, LA

John was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Iris Scohy and brother, J.B. Horn.

Funeral: Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Minot.
Interment:
Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND;
Visitation:
Monday, March 24, 2008, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
