John Howard Hoes , 63, of Minot, ND, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on January 15, 2018.
John was born May 28, 1954, in Grand Island, NE, to Howard and Violet (Bosler) Hoes, where he was raised and educated. He graduated from Central Catholic High School, in 1973.
On November 15, 1975 he married Becky Kehm in Grand Island, NE. In 1982, John relocated his family to Logan, ND to become a Bee Keeper with his father-in-law. After 10 years as a Bee Keeper, John changed careers and began working with farm machinery . John was a true workhorse, and worked all the way up to the end of his life, as a Service Technician with Geringhoff Manufacturing.
John was a man of many talents and could fix anything. His many hobbies included: woodworking, leatherwork, tinkering in his garage, playing practical jokes, cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and traveling with The Gang. Most of all, John was a loving father, husband, grandfather, brother and friend to all.
John is survived by his wife, Becky, of 42 years; children Lindsay (Jon) Ries and Nick (Kelcie) Hoes; grandchildren Harper and Emerson Ries and Caleb and Amelia Hoes; brothers Verne (Candy), Don (Kim Albrecht Boeckman), and Howard (Kathie) Hoes; sisters MaryLinda Hoes, Trish (Mike Fordell) Peterson, and Annette (Steve) Glenn; mother-in-law Donna Kehm; sisters-in-law Brenda (Kris) Sime and Bonnie (Rick) Langley; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, co-workers, and a close group of friends.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Violet Hoes and father-in-law, Everett Kehm.
There will be a private funeral service at the Thomas Family Funeral Home followed by a Celebration of Life at The Grand Hotel in Minot, ND on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to attend and in memory of John, his signature Hawaiian attire is encouraged, but not required.
