John "Jack" Doering, 83, Minot, formerly of Goodrich, ND, died Saturday, November 28, 2020 in a Minot Hospital.
Jack was born December 19, 1936 at Bismarck, ND the son of Richard and Anita (Martin) Doering. He was raised at Goodrich and assisted with the family business, Doering's Super Value in Goodrich during his younger years. He graduated from Goodrich High School in 1955. Jack entered active duty service with the US Army, honorably serving his country following the Korean Conflict from 1957 until 1958.
He returned to North Dakota, where he continued his education, receiving a degree in Business from Valley City State College in 1962. He later received a Master's degree in Business from the University of North Dakota.
Jack was united in marriage to Rita Gisi on August 9, 1968 at Grand Forks. Along with raising their two children, he was employed as a Professor in the Business Department at Mankato State College for two years and then at Minot State College. He returned to teach at Minot High School as a substitute teacher and at Minot State in the Business department part time. He fully retired in 2010.
In 1984, Jack rededicated his life to the Lord. This decision made a significant impact on the Doering family, leading them to First Assembly of God Church in Minot, where Jack was an active member until his death. Jack enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and always loved the outdoors. He continued to hunt, fish and golf until the time of his death. Jack was an avid supporter of his Minot State family and Minot State athletics. He had a love for his Minot State students, many of whom he'd see in the community.
