Joey Wald, 57, lifelong Surrey area farmer passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021, in a Minot hospital with his loving family at his side.

Joey Loren Wald was born on November 11, 1963, in Minot to James and Helen (Schiele) Wald. He was raised on the family farm in Nedrose Township of Ward County and attended school at Surrey prior to graduating from Surrey High School in 1983. As a young adult he was employed by various construction companies and at C&C Plumbing and Heating. He started farming at a young age as well and continued to farm until his last day on earth.

Joey married the love of his life Stacey Brandt on June 2, 1995, at Zion Lutheran Church in Minot.  They made their home on the Wald family farm raising their 3 wonderful children while teaching them the ins and outs of farming. He especially enjoyed having his children farm alongside him. Farming was his passion and he really loved being a papa.

Joey especially enjoyed restoring classic cars and antique tractors and farm equipment as well as watching NASCAR, but his number one priority was supporting his children and grandchildren in their activities.

Joey's loving family includes his wife of 26 years: Stacey; children: Britney (Tanner) Vix, Levi (Lauren) Wald, Madison Wald (Scott Simenson); grandchildren: Ames Warner and Brinley Wald; step grandchildren: Ashlyn, Hayden and Lakyn Vix; parents: James and Helen (Schiele) Wald; siblings: Becky (Robert) Whitted, Terry (Doreen) Wald and Corey (Christy) Wald; mother-in-law: Beverly Brandt and in-laws: Terry (Nikki) Brandt and Shelby (Rhonda) Brandt Kevin (Liz) Hansen as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Joey was preceded in death by his grandparents: Joseph and Anna Wald and Nick and Eva Schiele, father-in-law: Dale Brandt, sister-in-law: Cody Hansen, and nephew: Braxton Hansen.

Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, November 5, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church – Minot.
Visitation: Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the church.
Vigil Prayer Service: Thursday, November 4, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. in the church.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens - Minot.
