Obituary

Joseph Earl "Joey" Carpentier, 69, Minot, died on Wednesday, April 23, 2013 in a Minot hospital.

Joey was born on January 11, 1944 in Crosby, ND. The only son of six children born to Earl and Mabel Carpentier. He was raised on the family farm near Portal. He attended school in Portal and graduated from Portal High School in 1962. Joey attended the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton where he received specialized training in plumbing. Joey was inducted into the U.S. Army on January 14, 1965 and served until his honorable discharge on December 27, 1966. He returned to North Dakota where he was employed by the Burlington Northern Railway as a diesel mechanic until the time of his retirement.

Joey married Hertha Kastrow on December 31, 1976. They made their home in Minot. Hertha died on February 24, 2004.

Joey especially enjoyed fishing, socializing and gardening. He was an avid gardener who was happy to share the fruits of his labor with family and friends.

Joey is survived by his daughter: Sandy Carpentier of Minot; grandchildren: Joey Earl Carpentier of Grand Rapids MI sisters: Kay (Sam) Altringer of Lake Tahoe NV, Judie (Robert) Soiseth of Forsyth, MT, Marilyn (Dennis) Pfleiger of Vancouver WA, Erlene (Steve) Abraham of Butte MT and Monica (John) Wolfe of Billings MT as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joey was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Graveside Service: Friday, April 26, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Memorials: In lieu of plants and flowers memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
