After a long and hard fight against MDS Leukemia Jodi won. The cancer didn't take her; her body was just too weak to recover. On July 3, 2018 Jodi Helen Johnson went to be with her Lord in heaven.
Jodi was born on August 20th, 1959 to Mona and Harlan Johnson in Minot, ND. She was taken home to the house her parents built and lived there until the day she left this earth. She attended Harrison Grade School and graduated from Des Lacs/Burlington High School in 1977. She was a devout Catholic and attended St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. Jodi had several careers including working as head cook at the Eagles Club, head chef at the Minot Country Club and at K-Mart, Office Max, Edgewood Vista and The View.
Jodi was a loving and giving person who touched everyone she met. Her family was the most important thing to her and she was our foundation. She adored her nieces Katie and Emily and was really their second mom. Children meant so much to her and there are too many to mention.
Jodi found joy in spending time with people; she loved doing crafts and made many for family and friends. Jodi was a fantastic cook, her chili was the best in the world, and she would bake and cook for friends all the time. She was a Honkers and Vikings fan.
The best times of her life were video recording Katie's basketball and volleyball career. Attending Katie's and Emily's Christmas programs while they were in grade school, camcorder in hand. Jodi had bragging rights for Emily being student of the quarter every quarter while in high school and on the Dean's List in college and Katie being Homecoming Queen and ND Female Athlete of the Year in 2010. They were her pride and joy.
Jodi will be remembered most for her loving, giving, and joyful nature.
Jodi will be with her family in heaven including the entire Johnson family, which includes her dad Harlan, Uncle Jim and Auntie Kay, Aunt Gloria, Auntie "Lolly" Lois and Bill Billehus, Auntie Carol and Uncle Cletus along with their parents John and Helen Johnson. She will be reunited with her Grandma Julia and Bernard Bergstad and her Uncle "Al" Albert and Aunt Pat along with all her beloved Great Aunts and Uncles as well as her brother-in-law Mark King.
Jodi leaves behind her mom Mona, brother Jack (Kevin) and sister Julie King. Her beloved nieces: Katie and Emily King as well as her adopted nieces and nephew: Presley, Korbin and Addison Zeltinger. She is also survived by her Bergstad uncles and aunts as well as numerous cousins on both sides of the Johnson, Degenstein and Bergstad families.
If attending the funeral, please wear the color blue it was Jodi's favorite.
