Jodi Rae Fundingsland Hodgkins , 54, Minot, died Friday, February 3, 2012 in a Minot hospital.

Jodi was born June 29, 1957 in Minot, North Dakota She was the youngest of five children to Dale and Mable (Rasmussen) Fundingsland. She was raised in Minot and graduated from Minot High School.

Jodi lived in Minot and moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she raised her two daughters, Jennifer and Lindsey. She was employed by McDonongh School for 20 years, and was the administrator of the Middle School. Jodi returned to Minot to care for her parents in 2008.

Closest friends and family often called her JR. Jodi enjoyed reading books, doing crossword puzzles, tending to her many houseplants, spending time with her parents, and snuggling with her cat, Edward. Jodi's greatest passions were caring for the well being of all animals and being within nature; her love of the outdoors kept her healthy and happy. Before her knees began to fail her human body, she would walk for hours and hours, just taking in the air.

The size of Jodi's heart was immeasurable. Her love, patience and understanding inspired us all, and shaped her daughters in myriad ways. Compassion was her sole compass through every circumstance, as she maintained faith that life was for living, and life was for all to be treated well. Life was to exude love.

Since her heart was so big, she was, above all, a perpetual caregiver. Jodi was often the glue that held things together, and everyone loved being in her presence. Jennifer and Lindsey were always told from the community how much people loved her and appreciated her. They were always told how lucky they were to have a mom like Jodi.

In 2008, Jodi was called to live in with her parents, Dale and Mable, where once again, her natural instincts for emitting love upon those she loved, came in handy. The way she took care of her family was unparalleled. She brought with her light, love, laughter, and ease every where she went. She will be greatly missed.

Jodi's loving family includes, her daughters, Lindsey Egge, Portland, OR, Jennifer Egge, Portland, OR ; mother, Mable Fundingsland, Minot, brothers, Lynn Fundingsland, Fargo; Kim Fundingsland, Minot; sister, Sharon Paul, Billings, MT; several nieces and nephews.

Jodi was preceded in death by her father, Dale and brother, Jerry Fundingsland.

Celebration of Life service : Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
Visitation : At the request of the family, there will be no reviewal, however friends may sign a memorial register book on Monday (Today) from 3:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Souris Valley Animal Shelter.
