Jock Stevick, 45, Minot area dentist and beloved member of our community, died Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

Jock's life began April 22, 1972, as the son of Jack and Marlene (Folvag) Stevick. He grew up in the 'Magic City' where he was part of the Minot High School Magicians' success in basketball, winning a state title his senior year. Growing up, Jock loved his time spent with cousins in Minot and Grenora, and had many fond memories of his summers working for Morelli's Distributing as a teenager and after college. He graduated from high school in 1990 and continued his education and basketball career at Minot State University, earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology.

At Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Jock trained as a Doctor of Dental Science. He joined the Souris Valley Dental Group family in 2002. Jock poured his heart and soul into dentistry. He was relentless in his quest to offer the best care for his patients, constantly learning and perfecting his trade as a member of the Spear Study Club. Along the way, he met some of his dearest friends.

Jock was joined in marriage to Lacey Collins on November 22, 2007, on the sunny shores of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. They were meant to be soul mates and best friends from the very beginning. They called Minot home and were blessed with four beautiful children, who fill their lives with joy, love, and laughter every single day. As a family, summers were spent making precious memories at their cabin on Lake Metigoshe. At the lake, Jock held court as captain of the boat, pulling family and friends around all day. He loved gathering with friends, enjoyed sunsets, and rarely passed up a pontoon ride. Jock was also an avid golfer, and religiously played on 'Men's Night' at the Minot Country Club.

Jock lived life with gustojumping into every day with both feet at full speed both professionally and personally. He played hard but loved harder. His best attributes as a husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend shone even brighter in the face of adversity. Jock was steadfast in everything he did. He learned he had Multiple Myeloma in the fall of 2015, and did everything he could to get ahead of it, researching the best care and keeping those around him optimistic at every turn. Never one to complain, he offered one of his many 'Jockisms' to concerned family and friends: "It is what it is" A lifelong Minnesota Vikings fan, Jock bled purple every Sunday during football season, and was there to witness Diggs' recent game-winning touchdown. For everything Jock went through, he was a living miracle, and we will never forget the lessons of faith he brought to us when facing life's most unthinkable challenges.

Jock is survived by his loving wife, Lacey Stevick, Minot; his children, Jack, Selia, Sofia and Elise Stevick; parents, Marlene Stevick, Minot and Jack (Joann) Stevick, Minot, ND and Mesquite, NV; sister, Kim (Jim) Guettler, Minnetonka, MN; stepsister, Andi Kaplan, St. George, UT; father-in-law, Rick (Bonnie) Collins; brothers-in-law, Rory Collins, Minot and Casey (Megan) Collins, Minneapolis, MN; nieces and nephew, Anna and Kala Guettler and Mia, Isla, Liva and Joey Collins along with numerous cousins and a village of friends who have blessed the lives of our family.
