Joanne M. Fursteneau, 86, Minot, died Sunday, August 2, 2020 in a Minot Nursing Home.
Joanne was born July 1, 1934 at Garrison, North Dakota the daughter of Max and Helga (Fjeldahl) Ziegler. She was raised and educated at Glenburn and graduated from Glenburn High School in 1952. She was employed during her younger years at Westlie Motor as an inventory clerk.
Joanne was united in marriage to Hugo Fursteneau on December 30, 1953 in Minot. She attended Minot State College and became employed at Fisher Motors from 1972-1976. In addition to raising their 3 children, she and Hugo also owned and operated the Bee Line service in Minot from 1976-1990, where she worked as a secretary for the business. She was later employed with Walmart for 6 years until retiring in 1995. Hugo died May 9, 2018.
Joanne was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church, Minot. She was also a life member of Beta Sigma Phi and former member of ABWA. She was an active leader of Cub Scouts and Girls Scouts. She had also coached her daughter, Darla to the National Baton Twirling Championships in 1974. She loved to garden, enjoyed cooking and canning, sewing, embroidery, crocheting and traveling with her husband and family.
Her loving family includes , son, Douglas Fursteneau, Minot; daughter, Darla (Eric) Roder, Langdon, ND; grandchildren, Christopher, Nathan, Jessica, Bo and Blake; 5 great grandchildren; siblings, Joyce Grove, Cloquet, MN, Clarice Polzin, Spring Lake Park, MN, Ruby (George) Graff, Morris, MN and Sharon Brentrup, Bismarck, ND; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 64 years, Hugo; daughter, Debbora Allen.
Private Funeral service : Due to COVID restrictions, there will be a Private Family service held on Thursday, August 6, 2020 in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot. A livestream of the service can be accessed at https://www.mtmsales.net/thomas
Public Graveside service : Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Public Visitation & Booksigning : Thursday from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to CCMH Foundation in Langdon, ND.
