The Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck, ND.

Joanne Marie Deckert, 79, Minot, formerly of Bismarck, died Thursday, January 10, 2019 in a Minot Nursing Home

Joanne was born June 5, 1939 at Bismarck, North Dakota, the daughter of Joseph and Martha (Haux) Deckert. She was raised and educated in Bismarck and attended the North Dakota School for the Deaf in Devils Lake, where she graduated in 1957.

Joanne then returned to Bismarck, where she became employed at 1st National Bank as a bookkeeper for more than 30 years. She retired in 1987. In her later years, she had moved to Minot to live nearer her brother and his family.

Joanne was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bismarck. She enjoyed painting, sewing, reading and cooking. She especially enjoyed all things cats, with quite the collection of memorabilia.

Her loving family includes, nieces, Camille Oothoudt, Minot, Janice Gabriel, Sun Lakes, AZ, Patrice Stumpf, Pelican Rapids, MN and Geralynn Weber, Durango, CO; sister in law, Cathy Deckert, Minot; a number of great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Dr. Robert Deckert and Lester Deckert and his wife, Lillian.
