Joan "Jodi" Klimpel, 77, Minot, died Friday, October 21, 2016 in a Bismarck hospital.
Jodi was born August 30, 1939 at St. John, North Dakota the daughter of Patrick and Louise (Trottier) Baker. She was raised at St. John and graduated from high school there in 1958.
She moved to Minot in 1958 and was employed at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store and North Hill Bowl during her younger years. She was united in marriage to Martin Halstengard on June 3, 1961 at St Ann's Catholic Church in Belcourt. They made their home at Sawyer, where they farmed for several years before moving to Minot in 1967 and later divorced.
Jodi met the love of her life, LaVern Klimpel. They were united in marriage on November 11, 1989. Throughout the years, they lived in Minot and enjoyed their time with family, friends and especially their time with their grandchildren. LaVern passed away on April 11, 2015.
Jodi was a member of St Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot. She enjoyed bowling and had participated in local leagues. Her door was always open for a visit and cup of coffee.
Her loving family includes , children, Dean (Marnita) Halstengard, Minot, Joan (Mitch) Preskey, Glenburn, Terry (Cyndi) Halstengard, Mandan, Jared (Jen) Klimpel, Surrey; Eleven grandchildren, Jesse & Sheyenne Halstengard; Tylor, Sami, Quinn & Olin Halstengard; Skylar, Salym & Sienna Klimpel,; Chandler & Bryton Heisler; 1 great grandchild, Freyja Halstengard; brother, Joe Baker, Belcourt; sister, Rita Langer, Belcourt; several nieces and nephews .
Jodi was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, LaVern; siblings, Agnes Poitra, Blanche Parisien, Ann Baker, Morris, Clarence, Louis and Henry Baker.
Funeral Service
: Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation:
Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
