Joan Phyllis (Rogers) Kalmbach, 67, formerly of Bowbells, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2014, at Trinity Homes in Minot.

Joan was born December 26, 1946, to Walter R. and Irene (Zimmerman) Rogers in Minot, ND. She was raised in Bowbells and graduated from Bowbells High School in 1964.

Joan was once united in marriage to William Kalmbach December 6, 1965. This union was blessed with two daughters, Karla and Kathy.

Sometime later, Joan met her special companion, Jon McIntyre. They happily resided in Bowbells for many years until Joan became a resident of Trinity Homes June 20, 2013 due to her health. Joan loved spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, listening to music, reading, doing crossword puzzles, bird watching, gardening and bowling.

Joan worked in Kenmare, Portal, Bowbells prior to opening Bowbells Caf, where she enjoyed cooking, serving and visiting many customers and friends. She was an organizer of family reunions and kept in touch with many of her relatives.

Joan was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bowbells. She will be missed by all who shared in her life.

Joan is survived by her companion, Jon McIntyre, Bowbells, ND; daughter, Kathy (Larry) Bryant, Lignite, ND; granddaughter, Katelynn (Dustin) Logelin and baby girl Logelin, due in April; grandson, Brandon Bryant, Lignite; sisters, Karen (Larry) Allen, Bismarck, ND and Eunice (Doug Nickolls) Landers, Springfield, OR; brother, Wes (Corliss) Rogers, Grand Forks, ND; aunts, Dorothy Farland, Mandan, ND and Betty Draggoo, Detroit, MI; nieces, Bernie (Kerry) Schultz, Brainerd, MN, Jackie D. Johnson, Bowbells, ND, Brenda Larson and Teresa Larson, both of Williston, ND, Cheryl (Bill) Dando, Golden Valley, MN, and Jenny Rogers, Grand Forks, ND; nephews, Frank (Steph) Johnson, Goshen, IN, Dan (Dawn) Johnson, Bismarck, ND, and Steve (Lisa) Zacharias, Garrison, ND; sister-in-law, Susan (Robert) Jessen, Kenmare, ND and brother-in-law, Larry Larson, Williston, ND along with many cousins.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Karla Tysver, and sister, Janet Larson.

A graveside service will be held in the spring 2014 at the Bowbells Community Cemetery, Bowbells, ND.
