James D. "Jim" Walker, 74, Minot, died Tuesday, November 29, 2011 in a Minot Nursing Home.
Jim was born July 4, 1937 at Minot, North Dakota, the son of William and Myrtle (Nelson) Walker. He was raised and educated in Minot and Surrey. He entered into active duty service with the U.S. Army in 1961 and honorably served his country for three years and was stationed for a time in Germany.
He returned to the Minot area and started working for the Arrowhead Red Owl Bakery for three years along with working for area farmers. He then was employed by the City of Minot, working for over 30 years as a light equipment operator. He retired in 2001 and continued to make his home in Minot.
Jim was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot, where he served as an usher and assisted with the recording of many services. He had participated in local pool and dart leagues. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
His loving family includes: children, Ernie (Rhonda Nush) George, Pamela George, Brian (Sue) George and James Walker, Jr., all of Minot; 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; mother, Myrtle Walker, Minot, brothers, Kenneth Walker, Minot and George (Linda) Walker, Minot.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, sons, Loren George and Marvin Walker, sister, Audrey and brother, Marvin.
Funeral service
: Friday, December 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in St Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment:
Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation:
Thursday from 2:00-7:00 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
