Jim 'Mad Dog' Haugen, 67, Upham, formerly of Minot, died Sunday, October 11, 2015, in a Minot hospital.
Jim was born April 13, 1948, in Detroit Lakes, Michigan. He was raised by Lloyd E. and Lola (Odden) Haugen. He grew up in Minot, ND and graduated from Minot High School in 1966.
Jim was drafted into the US Army August 17, 1967, serving his country with honor during Vietnam War until his discharge August 5, 1969.
Jim spent his working life as a ranch hand in the Powers Lake area until moving to Minot where he served in the maintenance department for Dakota Square Mall for several years. He moved to Upham, ND in 2006.
Jim was united in marriage to his partner of 30 years, Wanda Zuck April 13, 2012, at West Minot Church of God. They were blessed with many good years together enjoying time spent with family and friends.
Jim enjoyed the outdoors and was often found with a fishing pole or chasing his favorite game in season. He was a good cook often sharing the fruits of his labor with family. He will be missed by all who shared in his life.
Jim's loving family includes wife, Wanda, Upham; sister, Leila Preston of Minnesota; brothers, Carl (Nancy) Haugen, Carson City, NV, Bruce Livingston, Minot and Eugene Livingston, Minot; brothers and sisters-in-law, Martin (Loris) Zuck, Douglas, ND, Joseph (Christi) Zuck, Gilby, ND, Edwin (Debbie) Zuck, Jr., Douglas, ND, Walter (Brenda) Zuck, Soldotna, Alaska; Neal (Michelle) Zuck, Minot, ND, Judy (Frank) Banning, Minot, ND, Bonita Zuck, Tioga, ND, Leslie Zuck, Minot and Darren (Sonia) Zuck, Minot, ND along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Carlene.
A gathering for family and friends to pay their respects will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
A time of fellowship, refreshments and memory sharing will be held at the VFW Club following the visitation time at the funeral home.
Memorials are preferred to an organization of the donor's choice.
