Jewell C. Grove, 95, Minot, formerly of the Parshall area, died Saturday, November 7, 2020 in a Minot Hospital.
Jewell was born March 23, 1925 on the family farm in Banner Township of Mountrail County, North Dakota, the son of Christ and Inga (Peterson) Grove. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Parshall High School in 1943.
Jewell was united in marriage to Lois Ann Myhre on June 6, 1954. They made their home on the farmstead near Parshall, where they raised their 3 children, Jerilyn, Kimberly and Michael. Jewell was a small grain farmer for more than 50 years. He retired in the late 1990's, however his heart never left the farm. They resided in Parshall for a short time before moving to Minot in 2004. During the winter months, Jewell and Lois resided in Mesa, Arizona.
Jewell embraced life and was active in his community and church. He was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church of Parshall. He also enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending time at Lake Sakakawea and Lake Metigoshe.
Jewell is survived by: his wife of 66 years, Lois; children, Jerilyn (Michael) Lange, Mesa, AZ, Kimberly (David) Liebold, Bottineau and Michael (Vicki) Grove, Parshall, ND; five grandchildren to include: Joseph (Stephanie) Lange, Carolyn Pedersen, Kristina Liebold, Jeffrey Liebold & Brittany Grove; 4 great grandsons to include: Thayne Stubbs, Brenden Pedersen, Keegan Pedersen & Ryder Lange; sisters, Evelyn Anderson of Phoenix, AZ and Edythe (Shirley) Rustad, Garrison, ND; numerous nieces and nephews, whom affectionately referred to him as "Uncle Sonny".
Jewell was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Myrtes (Omar) Gjefle, Lloyd (Helen) Grove and Beverlee Johnson.
Private service:
Due to COVID, the family will have a private celebration of life service on Saturday, November 14, 2020 in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment:
will follow the service in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Public Visitation:
Friday, November 13
