Jewell "Judy" Dockter, 96, formerly of Minot and Parshall, died on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, in a Menahga, MN, nursing home.
Jewell Pauline Corbett was born on April 20, 1917, in Birch Tree, Missouri, to Robert and Mary (Bachar) Corbett. She was reared and educated there and completed BirchTree High School in 1934.
Jewell married Raymond Dockter on September 14, 1941, in Los Angeles, CA. They made their home in California where she was employed as an aviation riveter for Douglas Aircraft. They moved to the Parshall, ND, area in 1946, where they farmed in Shell Township of Mountrail County for 52 years. In addition, they owned and operated Dockter's TV, Radio and Appliance Store in Parshall. They moved to Minot in 1989 but continued to farm until retirement in 1993. The love of Jewell's life, Raymond, died on August 4, 2004.
Jewell was a member of Bread of Life Lutheran Church in Minot and a former member of the Church of God and United Church of Christ in Parshall. She was an active church member and loved being a Sunday School Teacher. She volunteered, with Ray, at UniMed Medical Center for more than ten years. After moving to Menahga with her daughter, Lyn, and son-in-law, Rick, she became an active resident of the Green Pine Acres Nursing Home where she lived and flourished for six years. She was dearly loved by the staff there and made a lasting impact on all she touched with her bright, strong and appreciative spirit.
Jewell's loving family includes her children: Ray Dockter (Kathy) of Stanley; Donna Frederick (George) of Minot, and Lyn Dockter-Pinnick (Rick) of Menahga, MN; nine grandchildren: Chad (Kristi);Shawn (Erin); and Blaine (Jill); Ken (Melissa); Kathy (Robert), and Kevin (Jana); and Eric (April); Aaron (Veronica) and Derek (Danielle); eight great-grandchildren: Avery and Shayne (Chad and Kristi); Miles (Blaine and Jill); Makiah (Ken and Melissa); Kalin and Kayla (Kathy and Robert); Martin (Aaron and Veronica) and Annette (Derek and Danielle); along with a large number of extended family. Jewell will be deeply missed by all.
Jewell was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings: Melva, Howard, Raymond, Gene, Grace, Martha, Mary, Charles, Bill, Bess and Lona.
Celebration of the Life of Jewell Dockter
: Monday, December 9, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in Bread of Life Lutheran Church - Minot.
Interment
will be in Rosehill Memorial Park Minot.
Visitation:
Sunday from noon until 4:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot.
