Obituary

Jessy G. Klimpel "Golden Eagle" 32, Garrison, died Monday, July 13, 2015, in a North Mississippi Regional Hospital in Tupelo, MS. He died from complications from weight-loss surgery performed several years ago. He was surrounded by his mother and the love of his life Ashley Hester each one holding his hand as he passed away. Jessy is a grandchild of the Water Buster, Fox Society member of the Hidatsa and a member of the Big Lodge Clan. He is a descendent of Pretty Shield Medicine Woman of the Crows, Goes Ahead and Adlai Stevenson US Scouts.

Jessy was born May 19, 1983 at Minot, North Dakota the son of Gaylon and Evelyn (Stevenson) Klimpel. He was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 2001. He was a member of the Jazz Band, Marching Band and Mens Chorus. He excelled in his saxophone skills under the direction of Mr. David Jensen.

Jessy continued his education at North Dakota State University, graduating in 2009 with a degree in Music Education. He was a member of the NDSU Gold Star Band, Jazz Band and local Fargo music groups. He began his teaching career at Garrison High School, teaching vocal and instrumental music for 5th-12 graders through the spring of 2015. At the 2015 State Class B Tournament his girls' chorus marched in the Parade of Champions. He loved his time teaching in Garrison. In 2014, he became a charter member of the Sakakawea Area Optimist Club. He had recently moved to Amory, Mississippi.

Jessy was an amazing saxophone player and had played with a number of professional musicians throughout the years, including Doc Severinsen and Alf Claussen. He along with his brother Stony are avid KISS and St. Louis Cardinals fans. Jessy enjoyed fishing, especially with his best friend, Matt Nissen. He shared a love for hockey with his brother Clifford.

Jessy is survived by his parents , Gaylon and Evelyn Klimpel, Minot, brothers, Stony (Carissa) Klimpel; Clifford Klimpel; nephews and nieces, Vytalli, Ahzzy and Yari Klimpel; girlfriend and the love of his life and as he called her "His Southern Belle", Ashley Hester, Amory, MS; aunts and uncles, Beverly Hall, Parshall, Irene Stevenson, New Town, Deborah (Alan) Lee, New Town, Terry (Marty) Stevenson, Bismarck, Aaron Stevenson, New Town, Willette (Gerald) Bachmeier, Mandan, Doyle (Ila) Klimpel, Bismarck, Lynton (Carol) Klimpel, Sawyer, Carlene Thiese, Minnetonka, MN, Adeline Brunsell, Aberdeen, SD, Gordon Beaks, New Town, ND, Delvin (Kay) Driver, Marvin Driver, Linda Little Soldier, Claudia (Matthew) Mason, New Town, and Lynne (Fernando) Molina, Lakeview, MN; his cousins (especially his first cousins); and his cat, "Lil Cat". His relatives in Montana: Hogans, Yellowmules, and Eastmans.

Jessy was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clifford Klimpel, Arthur and Bernice Klimpel; maternal grandparents, Wilbur and Etheline Stevenson; uncle, Wilbur Stevenson Jr., and an aunt, Connie Hogan-Stewart.

Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Rosary and Vigil Prayer Service : Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Visitation: Tuesday from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Garrison Public School Music Boosters.
