Obituary

Jerry L. Montgomery, 69, Greensboro, North Carolina and formerly of Minot died on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at Beacon Place a hospice facility in Greensboro.

Jerry was born on July 20, 1938 in Greensboro, NC to the late Melvin and Iona (Cook) Montgomery. He was reared in Greensboro and graduated from Alamance High School in 1956 and Minot (ND) State University in 1990. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1956 and served for twenty-two years at various air force bases throughout the world prior to his honorable discharge in 1978. He retired as a Master Sergeant with the 91st Strategic Missile Wing where he served as an air transportation supervisor. Jerry married Darlene Moll on November 4, 1967 in Garrison. They made their home in Minot. Following his retirement from the air force he was employed at Leon's Manufacturing Implement Dealership and he continued to reside in Minot until he moved to Greensboro, NC in 1992.

While residing in Minot he attended West Minot Church of God and while residing in North Carolina he was a member of the Pleasant Garden Baptist Church. Jerry's hobbies and special interests included restoring damaged vehicles, motorcycling and his dogs.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years Darlene of Greensboro; sons: Randy (Emma) Montgomery of Boston, MA, Troy Montgomery of Minneapolis, MN; twin daughters from a previous marriage Beth (George) Michelson of Saginaw, Michigan and Suzanne Bartels of Fort Myers, FL; sister Rita Montgomery of Thomasville, NC and grandchildren: Stephanie Michelson, Michelle Bartels and J.W. Bartels as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Howard.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the West Minot Church of God.
Graveside Service with military honors will be in Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation: Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to West Minot Church of God.
