Jerry Heizelman, 79, Minot died on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 in his home from natural causes.
Jerry William Heizelman was born on July 7, 1941 in Minot to William and Louise (Freirer) Heizelman. He was raised and educated in Sawyer and graduated from Sawyer High School in 1960. As a young adult he was employed at City Bakery in Minot.
Jerry married Sharon Lynnes on September 27, 1964 in Minot. They had four children together, Todd, John, Tabitha, and Kevin. They made their home in Hutchinson, KS where he was employed at a mobile home manufacturing facility for five years. They moved to Riverdale ND in 1969 where they managed a farm for H. Anderson, Bennie Bechtold and Ward Nostdahl raising sugar beets and cattle for five years. The family moved to Oregon in 1977 where Jerry was employed as an assistant foreman for P.W. Pipe Manufacturing for seventeen years. Jerry and Sharon moved to Minot in 1994 where Jerry was the custodian at First Lutheran Church for seventeen years. He retired in 2012. Sharon died on August 15, 2015. Jerry had continued to reside in Minot.
Jerry was a member of the Southside Church of the Nazarene. Throughout life he was involved in church, volunteering in several roles, including Sunday school teacher, Awana leader, and Board Member. As a young man, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and trapping. Later he enjoyed building model railroads, carpentry projects, gardening, traveling and spending time with family. He was a beloved Grandpa.
Jerry's loving family includes his children: John (Julie) Heizelman of Sherwood OR, Tabitha Heizelman of Bountiful UT and Kevin (Liz) Heizelman of Minot; ten grandchildren: Amber, Amy, Andrea, Andrew, Braeden, Emma, Jackson, Alexandria, Caitlyn, and Todd; 14 great grandchildren; siblings: Bernice Faul, his twin sister Geraldine (Leo) Schafer and Jennell (Marvin) Heizelman all of Minot and Dennis (GeorgeAnne) Schafer of Delaware and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Sharon; Son: Todd; sisters: Verla Faul and Vida Peterson; step-mother: Sophia Heizelman and step-brother: Arlo Schafer.
