Jerry Gene Bender, 73, Surrey, died Tuesday, June 2, 2015 in a Minot Hospital.

Jerry was born September 8, 1941 in Chaseley, North Dakota the son of William and Sarah (Kleinsasser) Bender. He was raised on the family farm near Chaseley and educated at country schools in that area.

Throughout the years Jerry was employed as an over the road trucker, working for Land O Lakes and Cenex for over 35 years.

Family meant the world to Jerry. He loved spending Sunday's and Holiday's cooking for family activities. He loved to fish and hunt along with playing pool in a league at the KC Club, along with a game of cribbage. He was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan, and had a special interest in watching his cousin, Jim Kleinsasser play during his tenure with the Vikings. He enjoyed watching Western movies and listening to Charlie Pride and Elvis music. He took his dog and best friend, Yorkie along with him wherever he went.

Jerry's loving family includes , children, Derinda (Steve) Gulbranson, Minot, LeAnn (Kevin) Hanson, Surrey, Mandy (Mandy Lock) Bender, Surrey; grandchildren, Jessica (Reid) Plesuk, Sara Hanson, Miranda Gulbranson, Nicole (Jimmy) LeVallie & Wyatt Kidney; great grandchildren, Reese & Rylan Plesuk and Warren LeVallie; sister, Esther Brandt, Lodi, CA.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, great-granddaughters, Jersey Plesuk and Heather Gulbranson, sister, Mary Muscha, along with two brothers, Albert and Lloyd Bender.

Funeral service : Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
Graveside service : Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Hope Cemetery, rural Chaseley.
Visitation: Monday, June 8th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
