IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jerome 'Jerry'
Jorgenson
November 16, 1947 – December 19, 2019
Jerome "Jerry" Jorgenson, 72, Minot died on Thursday, December 19, 2019 in his home with his loving family at his side.
Jerome Curtis Jorgenson was born on November 16, 1947 in Powers Lake, ND to Clifton and Harriette (Barenthsen) Jorgenson. He was raised and educated in Powers Lake and graduated from Powers Lake High School in 1965. He continued his education at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and graduated with a degree in Accounting in February of 1970.
Jerry married his High School sweetheart Patricia Jessen on September 3, 1967 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Powers Lake. The couple lived in Grand Forks while they finished their education. After graduating from UND, they made their home in Minot for the last 49 years. He was employed as an accountant at Weber Spaulding for nine years. In 1979, Jerry established his own accounting firm. In 1981 he was elected district director for the ND Society of Public Accountants and in 1982 achieved his CPA Certificate. Jerry developed many long-standing relationships with clients over the years. He was even known to make house calls to those that were unable to visit him at the office. Jerry had a combination of professional knowledge and personal skills that was rare to find in an accountant.
As an active member of the community, he was involved with many organizations. Zion Lutheran Church, Scandinavian Heritage Association, Sons of Norway, Mouse River Loop Genealogical Society, Eastwood Park Historical Society, Minot Lions Club, Burke County and Ward County Historical Societies, Mouse River Players, Minot Area Council of the Arts, Elks Lodge, Eagles Aerie and several others.
Jerry especially enjoyed attending auctions, flea markets, gun shows, antique stores and made lasting friendships with vendors and shop owners over the years. He amassed a unique blend of historical archives, books, photos, antiques and artifacts. His collection holds an important historical significance for much of upper NW North Dakota.
Jerry was a loving husband and parent. He really enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to traveling to see family, Pat and Jerry spent time together seeing other parts of the world. They visited Canada, Mexico, China, The Czech Republic, Jamaica and even Jerry's ancestral homelands of Norway and Denmark.
Jerry's family includes his wife of 52 years: Patricia; children: Jeffrey (Kathy) Jorgenson of Tempe AZ and Jonathan Jorgenson of East Stroudsburg PA; grandchildren: Sydney, Henry, Dakota, Jacob, Haley, Maximillian, Madison and Anna; 95 year old mother: Harriette Jorgenson of Minot; brother: Marty Jorgenson of Minot.
