Jeffrey Simon, 72, Minot, formerly of Dickinson, died Tuesday, February 24, 2026, in Dickinson, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jeffrey James Simon was born May 28, 1953, in Dickinson, ND, the son of Adrian and Ellen (Wieglenda) Simon. He was raised and educated in Dickinson, graduating from Trinity High School in 1971.
Jeff enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 20, 1972, proudly serving his country until April 9, 1978. Following his honorable discharge, he continued to serve in the Army National Guard until April 14, 1985.
Jeff was employed with a seismic graphing company in Wyoming before moving to Grand Forks, ND to further his education at UND. He earned a bachelor's degree in biology and was an adjunct professor for a time before graduating with a bachelor's degree in nursing. Jeff worked as a critical care nurse for two years in the ICU in Grand Forks where he lived for 18 years. He also resided in Bismarck and Fargo until moving to Minot in 1994.
After Jeff earned his Master of Science Degree in Nursing and obtained his Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) accreditation, he worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in Minot as a nurse anesthetist until his retirement in 2017.
Jeff was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot and a past member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dickinson where he was an altar server. He was also a member of the Veteran's Club, American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA), and North Dakota Nurses Association (NDNA) where he served as recording secretary.
Jeff enjoyed spending time outdoors especially hunting and fishing, photography and reading.
Jeff is survived by his daughter Rachael Simon, Minot, ND, two step-grandchildren Gavin and Garret Krout, siblings Mary (Gary) Ullrich, Grand Forks, ND, Elizabeth (James) Bechtle, Lincoln, NE and Adrian Jr. (Collette) Simon, Phoenix, AZ along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Joseph, Jon and James.
Visitation in Minot:
Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. (CST) at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Visitation in Dickinson:
1:00 p.m.

Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson. The visitation will continue with a luncheon and fellowship following the funeral service.
Mass of Christian Burial:
2:00 p.m.
