Jeannette Waswick Simonson , 86, longtime Minot resident, died Monday, December 25, 2023 in a Velva Nursing Care Center.

Jeannette was born January 19, 1937 in Minot, ND, the daughter of John and Elva (McKee) Dunn. She was raised and educated in Des Lacs and graduated from Des Lacs High School in 1954. Following graduation, Jeannette attended business college in Minneapolis, MN for a short time and then returned to Minot, where she was employed as a secretary at Westlie Motor Company. She was once married to Ronald Waswick. They had made their home in Minot.

Jeannette was united in marriage to Charles "Chuck" Simonson in 1969. She became employed with Roosevelt Elementary School as a secretary and later at the Ward County Library as a librarian, until retiring in 2002. Chuck died on March 4, 2005. In her retirement years, Jeannette continued to live in Minot where she loved spending time with her children, step-children, and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jeannette was a member of Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot, where she often served as a volunteer. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, sewing and doing embroidery work.  She especially loved to travel and go camping with family.

Her loving family includes: children, Tim (Pala) Waswick, Minot, Terry Waswick, Tracy Waswick, Lori (Stephen) Plank, Minot, Step-son Paul (Vickie)Simonson, Minot and step-daughter Mary Simonson, Bismarck;  grandchildren to include: Travis, Casey, Barbara, Becky, Shawn, Aaron, Amanda and Kelsey, step-grandchildren Greta and Steven; several great grandchildren; Sisters, Vonda Rubbelke, Minot and Linda Hauser, Foxholm; brother, Michael Dunn, Fargo; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jeannette was preceded in death by: her parents, husband Chuck, sons Todd and Jim, step-son David and brothers Darrell and Roger.

Celebration of Life service: Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 1:00 PM in Vincent United Methodist Church.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Monday, January 8, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials: Preferred to Trinity Foundation – Cancer Care.
