Obituary

Jeannette Gunderson, 74, Berthold, died Sunday, April 15, 2012 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Jeannette was born April 28, 1937 at Minot, ND, the daughter of Ray and Stella (Benton) Myers. She was raised on the family farm near Berthold and attended country schools near there. During her younger years, she was employed with Bridgeman Creameries and at McCurdy's Restaurant.

Jeannette was united in marriage to Andrew "Andy" Gunderson on April 18, 1957 at Minot. They made their home in Makoti for a short time before moving to Minot, where they lived until 1965.From there, they moved to the Otto Engen farm west of Berthold where Andy farmed and Jeannette cooked for Otto's employees. While raising their children, she also did ceramics, belonged to the Ward County Homemakers and the Berthold Public School PTO. They purchased a farm south of Berthold in Tolgan Township in 1975, where they have since lived and farmed. Jeannette became a full-time homemaker and farm wife. She and Andy farmed, gardened and did many other things together.

Jeannette was a member of First Assembly of God Church, Minot, where she was active with the Women's Ministries. She was also a member of the choir and sang many years in the Singing Christmas Tree & Easter Pageants. She had served as the chairperson of the ND Farm Bureau Women's Committee, was longtime Treasurer of Tolgan Township, Chairperson for the John Fjeldahl Election Committee, and had worked with the Road to Recovery Campaign as a Cancer survivor.

She was well known in the area for her love of decorating many kinds of cakes for special occasions. She was an excellent seamstress and sewed her daughter and grand daughter's wedding dresses. She was a great cook, baker and enjoyed canning as well. She will be remembered most for her homemade bread, potato salad and especially her caramel rolls. Jeannette liked to travel, and her favorite vacations were visits to see her brother and sisters.

Her loving family includes, husband of fifty-four years, Andy, children, Debbie (Danny) Deaver, Berthold, Shane (Rhonda) Gunderson, Berthold; grandchildren, Waylon (Patti) Deaver, Brooke (Ryan) Storro, Logan Gunderson & Jacob Gunderson, all Berthold; great grandchildren, Gage, Gunnar, Gretchen & Gwendolyn Deaver, all Berthold; sisters, Mabel Albertson, Surrey, Ruth Borgen, Eau Claire, WI, Ruby (Loren) Podruchny, Tacoma, WA; brothers, Benton (Darlene) Myers, Berthold, Bill (Vivian) Myers, Minot, Raymond (Vicky) Myers, Surrey, Harrison (Joan) Myers, Berthold, Donald "Dutch" (Maxine) Myers, Minot, Marlin "Slim" (June) Myers, Berthold and Lowell (Betty) Myers, Carpio; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Sheleen "Shelly" Gunderson, brothers, Rolland, Alvin & Lehman Myers, sister-in-law, Doris Myers, and brothers-in-law, Gaillord Albertson and George Borgen.

Fu neral service : Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. in First Assembly of God Church, Minot. Interment: Wildrose Cemetery,Berthold.
Vi sitation : Wednesday, April 18th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
