Jeanne Meredith Vanorny, 98, Minot died on Sunday, June 18, 2017 in a Robbinsdale, MN hospital.

Jeanne resided in Minot for ninety-eight years with the exception of one year spent in Grand Forks when she was a little girl and the past ten months in Brooklyn Park, MN near where her daughter and son-in-law, grandsons and their wives and great grandchildren reside.

Jeanne was born on April 15, 1919 in Minot to Earnest and Ina (Bacon) Welton. She was reared in Minot, graduated from Minot High School and received specialized training in secretarial studies at Minot Business College. As a young adult she was employed in the Treasurer's Office and Auditor's Office at the Ward County Courthouse.

Jeanne married Russell Vanorny on October 17, 1941 in Sidney, MT. They made their home at 1415 6th Street S.W. in Minot for more than fifty years where she was fulltime wife, mother and homemaker. When her daughter was grown she returned to work as a Secretary for the Dean of Men and the Dean of Students at Minot State University. She retired in 1983 after eighteen plus years of service to MSU. In 2007, they moved to the Wellington Assisted Living Center. Russ died on December 12, 2010. In September of 2016 Jeanne moved to the Waterford Manor in Minnesota. Jeanne and Russ had enjoyed spending many of their summer days at their cabin on Lake Audubon with family and friends.

Jeanne's life centered around her family whom she loved dearly and it was mutual! She loved the get-togethers, especially at the lake cabin, which included fishing, shanghai (a card game), jigsaw puzzles and her favorite passion of reading. During the past year she was reading six books every three weeks (when they were due at the library). She will best be remembered for her friendships with "everyone," empathy for others, sense of humor and sweet personality. She left us with many, many memories and will be greatly missed.

Jeanne was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church and Venus Chapter #14 of the Order of Eastern Star.

Jeanne's loving family includes her daughter: Carole (Larry) Marsh of Maple Grove, MN; grandchildren: Kelly (Sherry) Marsh of Plymouth MN and Corey (Kim) Marsh of Maple Grove MN; great grandchildren: Carter, Mikaela, Emily and Evan Marsh and one nephew and many cousins.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother: Lynn Welton.

Celebration of the Life of Jeanne Vanorny: Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church - Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation: Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
