Obituary

Jeanette Wobbema, 83, Minot, died Thursday, January 05, 2017 in a Minot nursing home.

Jeanette Fayth Wobbema was born August 28, 1933, in New Rockford, ND the daughter of Walter and Ida (Ulrich) Walz. She was raised on a farm near New Rockford, where she attended Sheldon and Rockford Consolidated rural schools.

Following the completion of her ninth grade year, she assisted her parents in their farming operation. In conjunction to her duties on the farm, she worked as a news correspondent for the New Rockford Transcript, writing the Sheldon Township news. In 1951, she gained employment at the Red Owl Store in New Rockford.

Jeanette was united in marriage to Harold Wobbema March 30, 1952 in New Rockford. They lived in the New Rockford and Carrington areas until September 1959, when they moved to Ray, ND.

Harold and a business partner started S & H Construction Inc. in 1968, with a focus on grain elevator repair. They moved business operations to Velva in 1977 with Harold and Jeanette becoming sole owners of the business in 1978. Jeanette served in her role as office secretary for 25 years, semi retiring with Harold in 1998.

Her greatest joy in life was her family. She also found time to enjoy traveling, reading and auction sales.

Her family includes loving husband of 64 years, Harold, Minot; daughters, Terry (Leslie) Owens, Shoreview, MN and Diana (Curtis) Nelson, Velva, ND; sons, Richard (Tina) Wobbema, Timothy Wobbema and Dale Wobbema, all of Velva, ND; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Aurelia Walz, son, Harold Jr., sister, Mary Walz and brothers, Tom and John Walz.

Funeral Service: 2:30 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2017, at Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva, ND.
Interment: Carrington Cemetery, Carrington, ND (Spring of 2017)
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to an organization of the donor's choice.
