Jeanette Marie Varloe, 78, Surrey, died Monday, June 3, 2013 in a Minot Hospital.
Jeanette was born May 17, 1935 at Minot, North Dakota, the daughter of Clarence and Clara (Gjerde) Bjorke. She was raised and educated at Surrey and graduated from Surrey High School in 1953. She was employed at F.W. Woolworth for eight years and also babysat for Minot area families.
Jeanette was united in marriage to Arthur "Art" Varloe on October 26, 1960 in Minot. They made their home in Minot until 1963, when they moved to Surrey. Jeanette was employed at Surrey Public Schools as a cook for a number of years. In 1989, she was employed with Trinity Homes as a cook until retiring in 1997.
Jeanette was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Surrey, as well as the Women of the Moose, Eagles Auxiliary, both of Minot, Surrey Senior Citizens Center and volunteered in a number of capacities in the Church. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, reading, camping and doing crossword puzzles. She never turned down a card game with family and friends, especially Whist, Spades and Rummy.
Her loving family includes, husband of fifty-two years, Art, daughter, Brenda (Wilton) McCoy, Minot; son, Brian Varloe, New Town, ND; grandchildren, Farah (Jesse) Hystad, Alicia (Chris) Simonson, Kendra (Tyler) Johnson-McLaurin, Chelsee (Robert) Dotson; great-grandchidren, Tilynn, Kianna, Tommy, Aubrianna, Monica and Elijah; sister, Arlene (Gordon) Christianson, Minot; several nieces and nephews.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Marilyn Butterfield; brothers, Clem, Owen, Orland, Omar and an infant brother, Gary.
Funeral service
: Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. in Hope Lutheran Church, Surrey.
Interment
: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation:
Friday
from 4:00-7:00pm in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flower or plants, the family prefers memorials be designated to Hope Lutheran Church, Surrey.
