Jeanette Kathryn Haugeberg, 89, longtime Ward County resident, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2020 in a nursing home facility in Mesa, Arizona.

Jeanette was born November 20, 1930, to John and Jennie (Johanson) Mayher in Deering, North Dakota.  She was raised and attended school in Deering, North Dakota.  Her family moved into Minot in 1941.  Jeanette was united in marriage to Donald Haugeberg on July 28,1946 in Max, ND.  Prior to their wedding they enjoyed many dates at the Minot skating rink.  Don and Jean raised their family and spent most of their lives on the family farm in Gasman township raising small grains and livestock.  Jeanette also worked at Montgomery Wards in Minot from 1948-1949 and later at Ellison's Department store from 1970-1973.  They moved into Minot in 2006 and subsequently to Apache Junction, AZ in 2016 to be closer to family.  Don passed away on May 16, 2017.

Jeanette was very active in their church at Our Saviors Lutheran in Max.  She also was very involved in the Gasman township homemakers.  After their retirement, Don and Jean became very active in the Minot Moose Lodge and the Northwest Polkateers.  They spent many Saturday nights dancing at the Moose Lodge and enjoying their friends.  If they weren't dancing on the Polkateer's float, Don and Jean could be seen driving one of their collector cars in a summer parade.  Spending time with family and friends was a high priority for them as a couple.

Jeannie was a very kind lady always greeting you with a smile.  She especially enjoyed all the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was a wonderful role model for her family and will be deeply missed.

Jeanette's family includes : daughter Cynthia Dow, Apache Junction, AZ; son, Richard (Sheryl) Haugeberg, Max, ND; 5 grandchildren Patricia (Conrad) Linde, Enumclaw, WA; Scott Schoenberg, Apache Junction, AZ; Wade (Cristy) Haugeberg, West Fargo, ND; Chad Haugeberg, Arlington, TX; Kristy (Tom) Sawyer, Phoenix, AZ; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 70 years, Donald, son-in-law Clifford Dow; brothers Floyd and Lyle; sisters, Helen, Kathleen and Joyce.

Service: Due to COVID, A Private Family Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2020 in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment: Will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Public Visitation : Friday, November 13, 2020 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.  Social distancing guidelines and masks are recommended.
