Jean A. Rostad , 91, Minot, died Monday in a Minot hospital.

The graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 in the St. Leo's Section of Rosehill Memorial Park at 2:00 p.m. A time of fellowship and refreshments will be held following the service at Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot.

Jean Alice McIlraith Rostad was born August 29, 1929 in Fargo, ND. She lived in an orphanage until adopted at age 9 months by Ed and Alice McIlraith. Her early years were spent living in Crosby where her father practiced law. They relocated to San Diego, CA where Jean attended catholic grade school for several years. In 1939 the family returned to North Dakota making their home in Minot. Jean attended St. Leo's Catholic School until transferring to Minot High School for her junior and senior year, graduating in 1947.

After briefly attending UND, she married Don Rostad, Jr. in 1948. They raised four children while Don farmed in rural Carpio. Don died in 1969 and Jean eventually moved her family into Minot in 1971 where she resided until her death. Jean was a long-term employee of Northwest Pharmacy, retiring in 1983.

Jean loved to read, write stories and poetry, cross-stitch and was very artistic. She loved to laugh and had the gift to gab. Her family was the pride and joy of her life.

Jean leaves behind her children Bruce (Linda) Rostad of Minot, Janet (Glenn) Mueller of Bismarck and Marcia of Tucson, AZ. She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, son Steven and brother James McIlraith.

The family wishes to thank Trinity Homes Unit 3 South for their caring affection and devotion during her stay.
