Obituary

Jean McMartin , 93, Northwood, ND, formerly of Minot, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Northwood Deaconess Heath Center, Northwood, ND.

Jean Dorine McMartin was born January 2, 1925, to George and Marie (Bergebakken) McMartin, at Grafton, ND. She grew up on her parents' farm near St. Thomas, ND. She graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1943. She graduated from Prairie Bible College, in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada.

In 1951, she joined the staff of the Bible Bookstore, in Minot, ND, as a bookkeeper. She became a business partner with Chris and Arcelia Losby in that business, in 1952. After Chris's death in 1958, Jean continued with Arcelia in the business until they sold it and retired in 1995.

Jean was an active member of First Baptist Church in Minot. She found great joy and fulfillment in serving in the Sunday School, Awana Clubs, Women's Ministries, and Missions Committee for many years. Rejoice that she is now with her Savior, whom she loved and served.

Survivors include: sister, Ione Priebe, Fargo, ND, brother, Ronald (Bonnie) McMartin, St. Thomas, ND, sister-in-law, Helen McMartin, Oregon City, OR, many nieces and nephews and special friends, Leoti (Losby) Masterson, Topeka, KS, and Heidi (Losby) and Bill Collison, Arvilla, ND.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Mabel McMartin, sister, Margaret Porter, brothers, Donald, Vernon and Marvin, nephew, Jerry McMartin and business partners, Chris and Arcelia Losby.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018 at First Baptist Church, 200 3rd St. SW, Minot, ND.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND immediately following our service at the church.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred to First Baptist Church, Minot or Minot Youth For Christ.
