Jean Ebert, 94, Minot died Monday, July 4, 2016, in Trinity Hospital.
Jean was born on January 17, 1922, in Winner, SD, to Joseph and Pearl (Martin) Houlton. She was raised and educated in Winner, graduating from high school in 1939. After earning her lab technician license from Northwestern Institute of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, MN, Jean worked in Austin, MN, and at the Huron Clinic in Huron, SD.
Jean was united in marriage to Claude 'Bud' Ebert on April 21, 1947, in Huron, where they made their home until 1963, when they moved to Minot, ND. Jean worked at United Blood Services in Minot from 1969-1978. She earned her real estate license and worked in the field for two years. Jean then joined Zales Jewelry where she worked as a sales clerk from 1980 until she retired in 1987. Bud passed away on August 25, 2004. Jean had a knack for china painting, loved flowers, and enjoyed gardening at her home on Lake Audubon.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Gregg (Cyndi) Ebert, Arlington, SD; Joe (Julie) Ebert, Houston, TX; Jayne (Roger) Kluck, Jim Ebert, and Bob (Julie) Ebert, all of Minot, ND; brother Bob (Carol) Houlton, Minneapolis, MN; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Scott, and her sisters, Mary Misterik and Joanne Dammeier.
The family would like to thank the present and past employees of Brookdale Brentmoor for their dedicated care and devotion to our mother and grandmother. She loved you all.
A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, July 8, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot, with Deacon Chuck Kramer officiating.
Interment will be held at the Riverside Cemetery in Huron, SD at a later date.
