Jean Butterfield, 84, Berthold, died Sunday, January 27, 2008, in a Minot hospital.

Jean was born November 24, 1923, in Benedict, ND, the daughter of Clarence and Ellen (Olson) Snyder. The family later moved southwest of Berthold, in Evergreen Township where she was raised and educated.

Jean was united in marriage to Raymond Butterfield on September 13, 1946, in Minot. They were blessed with four children. She helped on the farmstead, raising chickens, gardening, and mastered the art of baking bread and apple pies.

Jean loved all animals, especially her cats, dogs, and chickens. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Surviving family includes: Children: Ralph Butterfield, Makoti, Dale Butterfield, Plaza, Clayton (Lynne) Butterfield, Liberal, KS, Judy (Jim) Stewart, Richville, MN; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Raymond; six sisters; and five brothers.

Funeral: Friday, February 1, 2008, at 1:00 p.m., in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Interment: Wildrose Cemetery, rural Berthold, ND
Visitation: Thursday, from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. , in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot
