Obituary

Technical Sergeant Jason Mower, 29 drown Saturday, June 15, 2013 as the result of a canoeing accident. He was stationed at Minot Air Force Base as a member of the 5th Logistics Readiness Squadron.

He was born April 28, 1984 in Fort Knox, Kentucky to Phyllis Mower. Sergeant Mower joined the United States Air Force at the age of 17 after graduating in 2002 from Douglas High School in Box Elder, SD. He was an active member of the Civil Air Patrol since the age of 12 and was also a member of the Junior ROTC program throughout high school. Jason married Dixie Greenfield on May 20, 2005 in Sturgis, South Dakota.

Sergeant Mower was previously stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base, SD and Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, NC. He deployed several times in support of contingency operations around the world. Sergeant Mower was recognized many times for outstanding and meritorious service to his country; recently, he was recognized for heroism after providing first aid at a horrific traffic accident.

Sergeant Mower loved life; he spent his time hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie Mower and daughter, Josephine Kelly both of Minot, ND; father and mother, Shawn and Phyllis Anderson of Saint Paris, Ohio; twin sister, Jody Degen of Alexandria, SD; paternal grandparents, Ronald and Rosanne Anderson of Youngstown, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Enoch and Irene LeLacheur.

Visitation with family present will be Friday, June 21 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Kline Funeral Chapel in Belle Fourche.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22 at Kline Funeral Chapel in Belle Fourche with the Reverend Del Neumeister officiating.
Burial will follow at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche with military honors provided by the Ellsworth Air Force Base Honor Guard.
A memorial has been established to the Airman and Family Readiness Center in Minot, North Dakota.
